RADIO DIRECTION FINDING FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE

As part of the upcoming ARRL Field Day event on June 24th & 25th, the Ulster & Northern Dutchess Readiness Group will conduct a RADIO DIRECTION FINDING FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE demonstration on Sunday June 25th at 10:00 AM local time at Taconic-Hereford Multiple Use Area (MUA) in Pleasant Valley, NY.

Our goal is to hide a remote transmitter within 5 feet of the trail network to simulate an injured hiker, lost smart phone or wildlife tracking use cases.

After providing some education to attendees about radio direction finding, teams will be sent out to find the hidden transmitter.   There will be some additional equipment available to be loaned out to participants. No prior experience is needed, but those with prior "fox hunting" are welcome to attend and assist.  As time permits, multiple demonstrations will be run simultaneously,
